The years 1967-78 were marked firstly by spontaneous wage struggles and then by the restructuring crisis. Hit by two opposing waves, the trade unions showed their subordination both to parliamentary parties and to great capitalist groups. In its battles for a trade union as independent class expression, Leninist criticism acknowledges the resolute character of the workers’ struggles, their intensity and expansion, but it also considers their limited duration in time as well as the resurgence of cross class tendencies, whether Catholic or “left-wing”. |
